The Stevedore is a love letter to Ybor’s working-class roots, blending history with modern development. This new apartment complex, a part of Gasworx development, is set to open on April 1.
Developed by KETTLER, a nationally recognized real estate investor, the complex will include 390 residential units, along with additional office spaces and retail space.

The Stevedore honors the longshoremen who helped power Tampa’s early economy and the story is told visually throughout the building. Funky, historic-inspired art pieces are placed across the property, giving each space a distinct personality while tying back to Ybor’s identity.
This unique art flows directly into the architecture. Custom archways and design elements echo the historic feel of the neighborhood, while the exterior mirrors the shapes of the Kress Building on Seventh Ave., helping the complex feel natural and not out of place in Ybor.
This vibrant and quirky atmosphere plays into the younger demographic. The complex offers a cafe space, cocktail lounge, urban garden, pool and multiple entertainment locations like a rooftop sky lounge.
From the ground floor to the balcony, historic artwork appears in unexpected places. A new mural will be added on the sky lounge that will be visible throughout the surrounding area.
Even smaller spaces were designed with intention. The mailroom features custom wallpaper inspired by Ybor with unique patterns of the TECO Line Street Car, palm trees, trumpets and old vehicles.

The cocktail lounge offers a retro bar vibe, featuring a mix of vibrant colors, warm brown tones and bold patterns.
“Ybor has such an extensive history. We’re about to celebrate the 140th anniversary. With Tampa having such a momentum, a lot of transients coming in, this is our opportunity to continue to tell its stories that are so true to Ybor city and makes Ybor city the special neighborhood that it is,” said Gabby Soriano, Vice President of Marketing for Gasworx.

Developers said the Gasworx concept centers on integrating with the surrounding community, including plans to add a stop along the TECO streetcar line to improve accessibility in and out of the area.
The Stevedore also offers a range of amenities including a stretching room, full gym, pool, outdoor entertainment area, urban garden, billiard table, community kitchens and in-unit washers and dryers.
“The landscape architect did a really good job of picking up the design. You see this in a lot of the furniture and the benches and the spaces themselves. He did a lot of work to mirror those shapes and spaces inside out here,” Jon Cleary, the senior development manager for KETTLER.
The complex will offer 127 studios starting at $1,900, 172 one-bedroom units starting at $2,100 and 91 two-bedroom units starting at $3,300.
Residents can choose between two interior styles. One features a brighter look with cream-colored cabinets and countertops, gray backsplash and lighter wood flooring. The other style leans darker with brown cabinetry and darker brown flooring. All units include a kitchen island, up-to-date outlets with ports for new electronic chargers and soft-close cabinets and drawers.

Pre-leasing has started and retail tenants will be announced soon.
